Sam Sunderland, known for his victories with GasGas and KTM in the world’s toughest off-road races, is now starting a new chapter. In 2025, he will become an official ambassador for Triumph, working with the British brand to take on new challenges.
From Dakar to a New Role
Sunderland officially retired from motorcycle racing after the 2024 Dakar Rally. However, he still competed in the event, teaming up with Toby Price to race a Toyota Hilux truck. Now, his new partnership with Triumph suggests exciting developments in the world of off-road motorcycles.
Is Triumph Expanding Its Off-Road Lineup?
Triumph recently entered the motocross and enduro market with the TF 250-X and TF 450-RC. With Sunderland’s experience in rally racing, many believe a rally version of the 450 could be in development. Another possibility is that Sunderland could compete in ‘Maxi-Trail’ class events with Triumph’s adventure bikes, following in the footsteps of enduro legend Ivan Cervantes, who has raced the Tiger 900 and 1200 in off-road competitions.
