Ducati has just introduced its first-ever motocross bike – the Desmo450 MX – and it’s already turning heads. Set to launch in Europe from June 2025, this bike brings Ducati’s racing DNA into the off-road world with a sharp mix of power, technology, and lightweight performance.
At the center of this new machine is a 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine, powered by Ducati’s famous Desmodromic valve system – the same system used in their MotoGP bikes. The engine makes 63.5 horsepower and 53.5 Nm of torque, with most of that torque kicking in early to give strong, smooth power through corners and over tough terrain.
The Desmo450 MX is built on a lightweight aluminium frame, carefully designed to be strong, stiff, and agile. The total dry weight? Just 104.8 kg – making it one of the lightest in its class.
But it’s not just about power and weight. Ducati has also packed this bike with some of the most advanced electronics ever seen in motocross. It includes a true traction control system, multiple riding and power modes, and is fully adjustable through the Ducati X-Link mobile app. The traction control is even smart enough to know when not to activate, keeping things smooth without slowing the rider down.
The suspension comes from Showa, and the brakes are Brembo, with Galfer discs. Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres and Excel rims round out a race-ready setup that’s already been tested in competition.
Before it even hit dealerships, the Desmo450 MX was raced by Jeremy Seewer and Mattia Guadagnini in the MXGP World Championship, showing its race potential straight from the start.
Although this is a full motocross model, many enduro and trail riders are already paying attention. Its strong low-end torque, lightweight feel, and advanced features could make it a solid option beyond the motocross track.
Sales begin in Europe this June, with other regions – including the U.S. – to follow. Ducati hasn’t confirmed an official enduro version yet, but after this launch, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one soon.
