The 2024 Progressive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Racing Series concluded its season with an exciting finale at the Yamaha Racing Ironman GNCC. Held on October 27 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the event witnessed intense competition across several classes, with Husqvarna’s Craig Delong seizing the XC1 Open Pro victory to cap off the season.
Starting strong, Lyndon Snodgrass (Kawasaki) led the early stages of the race. However, Delong soon made his move, overtaking Snodgrass to secure the lead and ultimately finishing nearly a minute ahead. “After a tough year, finishing on top at Ironman is awesome,” Delong remarked post-race.
The XC1 podium was rounded out by Liam Draper (AmPro Yamaha) in second and Snodgrass in third. Evan Smith (Husqvarna) achieved a personal best, finishing fourth after advancing through the field from sixth, while Ricky Russell (Yamaha) claimed fifth overall.
In the XC2 250 Pro class, Toby Cleveland (Bells Electric Race Team) took the top spot, staying in front for the majority of the race. Cody Barnes (Honda) came back from fifth to finish second, with Angus Riordan (KTM) finishing third after a determined effort.
Dakoda Devore clinched the FMF XC3 title, navigating mechanical issues and fierce competition to take the win, while Raley Messer and Jayson Crawford completed the top three.
In the WXC class, Brandy Richards (KTM) led from start to finish, with Rachael Archer (Kawasaki) and Tayla Jones rounding out the podium. The event also highlighted amateur achievements, with Joseph Cunningham claiming the Open A class win and Gavin Simon taking first in the 250 A class.
