2024 AMA Hard Enduro season concluded with an exhilarating finale at the Fallen Timbers Hard Enduro in Little Hocking, Ohio. This challenging race featured a mix of terrain, including caves, creek beds, extensive rock gardens, and hills, culminating in over 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
As the final event of the AMA East Hard Enduro Series, presented by IRC Tire, riders faced a grueling four-hour race consisting of five laps around the Wildwood Lake Raceway. This year’s event saw an impressive turnout, with 146 competitors across all 12 USHE classes. Unlike the previous muddy conditions that have plagued the venue, this year’s dry weather provided a refreshing change for the racers.
The race commenced with ten riders per row, and right from the start, the competition was fierce. Danny Lewis, Quinn Wentzel, James Flynn, and Nick Fahringer quickly vied for the top position on the opening lap. As the race progressed, Flynn and Wentzel managed to pull ahead, exchanging the lead multiple times, while Fahringer and Lewis battled for the remaining podium spot just a few minutes behind.
However, it was during the third lap that Lewis made a decisive move, charging forward to take the lead. At one point, he established a gap of up to four minutes and maintained his position without looking back. Flynn followed closely behind, ultimately securing second place, while Wentzel held strong in third by the end of the four-hour race.
A Historic Win for Lewis
This victory marked Danny Lewis’ first win in the USHE series, a remarkable achievement considering he had missed much of the season due to health challenges. Meanwhile, James Flynn crossed the finish line in second place, clinching the title of 2024 AMA East Hard Enduro Series Champion, also his first USHE Regional Championship. Remarkably, Flynn had raced in an EnduroCross event in Idaho on Friday night, flew to Ohio on Saturday, and competed in the Fallen Timbers Hard Enduro on Sunday, demonstrating his commitment to the sport.
