The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team delivered an impressive performance at Round 9 of the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the Unadilla circuit. Chase Sexton secured his fourth consecutive overall win, while Aaron Plessinger took third place overall, giving the team a double podium finish to celebrate.
Sexton, riding his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, clocked the fastest qualifying time and started strong with a second-place finish in the first Moto. In the second Moto, he quickly took the lead and pulled away, winning the race by 7.107 seconds and securing the overall victory. He continues to lead the championship standings by 28 points with just two rounds remaining.
After the race, Chase Sexton joked, “I think I’ve got this holeshot thing figured out,” and added, “The second Moto went exactly how I like it – it was so much fun! I’m really looking forward to the last two rounds of the season.”
Aaron Plessinger, despite challenging conditions in the first Moto, managed to grab the holeshot and finish third. In the second Moto, after a tough start, he fought his way up from outside the top 15 to finish fourth, securing a spot on the overall podium. With this result, he has now moved up to third in the championship standings.
Reflecting on his race, Aaron Plessinger said, “I was so far back at the end of the first lap! It felt like they held the gate for 20 seconds, and I almost stood up, then they finally dropped it. I wasn’t ready at all, but I fought hard and found another gear – it was a really great ride. It was definitely a tough battle, but hearing the fans kept me pushing, and we ended up on the podium for the weekend.”
