The bustling Grand Prix of Spain, situated on the outskirts of Madrid, set the stage for the second round of the 2024 MXGP season, where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing vied for their inaugural podium success of the year. Reigning World Champion, Andrea Adamo, clinched victory in the second MX2 moto aboard his KTM 250 SX-F, securing a commendable 3rd place overall. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Herlings claimed 4th position in the MXGP class aboard the KTM 450 SX-F, tying for 3rd place in points.

Amidst the sun-drenched setting of Intu Xanadu – Arroyomolinos, the esteemed host of MXGP in Spain, the event unfolded as the first of two Spanish Grand Prix events in 2024. The challenging hard-pack terrain bore witness to:

  • Jeffrey Herlings’ strong performance in the MXGP motos, securing 3rd and 4th place finishes, tallying 38 points and a tied 3rd place in the final Grand Prix standings.
  • MX2 contender Andrea Adamo’s stellar victory in the second moto, marking his maiden triumph of the season and securing 3rd place overall in the Grand Prix.
  • Liam Everts’ promising debut appearance of the season, culminating in a commendable 5th place overall, following a notable 3rd place finish in the Qualification Heat.
  • Sacha Coenen’s impressive display of speed and potential, securing 9th place in MX2 and showcasing adeptness with a second moto holeshot.

Saturday’s action witnessed Jeffrey Herlings’ resilient performance in the RAM Qualification Heat, securing 4th place despite early challenges, while Liam Everts demonstrated a solid return from injury with a 3rd place finish in MX2. Andrea Adamo claimed 6th position, with Sacha Coenen securing 8th place.

Sunday saw Herlings’ impressive start in the first MXGP moto, battling alongside Tim Gajser to clinch 3rd place. In the second race, he maintained his position, securing another 4th place finish. Liam Everts showcased consistent performance, securing 4th place in MX2 Moto1. Meanwhile, Andrea Adamo dominated the second MX2 moto, securing a commanding victory and clinching his first P1 of the season.

As MXGP transitions from Spanish terrain to the sandy tracks of Riola Sardo circuit in Sardinia, Italy, anticipation builds for the third Grand Prix of 2024 scheduled for the first weekend of April.
