Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia has secured the 2024 FIM EnduroGP World Championship, delivering a stunning performance on day one of the final round in Brioude, France. Garcia’s dominant ride, winning seven out of nine tests on his KTM 250 EXC-F, ensured his first-ever overall EnduroGP world title, with a day to spare.
Entering the seventh and final round with a 17-point lead, Garcia still faced intense pressure from his rivals. Despite this, the 27-year-old Spaniard rose to the occasion, placing third in the Friday night Super Test before taking the lead on Saturday’s first test. As the day progressed, Garcia extended his advantage, eventually crossing the line over 12 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, Steve Holcombe. This victory marks Garcia’s seventh win of the season and his fourth world title, though it’s his first in the overall EnduroGP category.
Garcia reflected on his achievement
“This is a dream come true. The last two years have been tough with challenging races and injuries, but this moment makes it all worth it. Becoming EnduroGP World Champion, and doing it by winning today, feels perfect. I want to thank the entire Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, as well as my friends and family.”
Pressure Still On for Enduro1 Title
While Garcia celebrates his EnduroGP triumph, his fight isn’t over yet. The Enduro1 title is still undecided, with Garcia holding a narrow nine-point lead over Steve Holcombe heading into Sunday’s race. Holcombe, who finished second overall and in the E1 class, acknowledged Garcia’s superior performance but remains determined:
“Josep rode better, it’s that simple. I wasn’t fully satisfied with my riding today, but I’m glad to have secured second. The battle isn’t over yet, and I’m ready to give it my all tomorrow.”
