Toni Bou, the star of the Repsol Honda Trial Team, solidified his position as the reigning World Champion by securing yet another flawless victory in the second round of the 2024 X-Trial World Championship. With his magnificent performance at Chalon-Sur-Saône in the second round, he cemented his dominance on the leaderboard, leaving his competitors trailing behind. Bou maintained his unbeaten streak in the 2024 season with this victory, showcasing his mastery by flawlessly navigating the challenging course. After winning Round One with minimal points, his performance in the second round was equally impressive, completing it without a single glitch.
Bou’s competitors struggled to match his pace and precision, with his teammate Gabriel Marcelli emerging as the closest rival, while Jaime Busto trailed in third place. Bou seized the lead early in the Final, demonstrating his superiority by posting consecutive clean runs in the second section. While his rivals faltered under pressure, Bou maintained his composure and secured victory well before the final sections.
Among other participants, Toby Martyn narrowly missed out on a Final spot due to a costly failure in the fifth section. Benoit Bincaz closely followed Martyn, with only one point differentiating their performances. Adam Raga faced disappointment yet again as he failed to contend for a podium finish. Matteo Grattarola’s promising start in the first round was overshadowed by mechanical issues in the second round, leading to a sudden downfall. Hugo Dufrese showcased his potential in his second X-Trial appearance by successfully completing two sections.
Toni Bou: I am very happy because tonight I rode at a high level and was very close to perfection. Even if my rivals were pretty close, I managed to score only one mark in nine qualifying sections. And then in the Final I felt even better, and I was able to take a lead right from the start. The team has done a great job and I am rightly proud of them.
The X-Trial World Championship remains in France for the third Round of the 2024 series in a week’s time, X-Trial Nice from the Palais Nikaıa on 22nd March.
