Hard Enduro fans were treated to a thrilling showdown as 2024 FIM Hard Enduro World Champion Manuel Lettenbichler faced off against Carson Brown at the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie, Tennessee. This time, the battle featured a classic ride: the 1996 KTM 300MXC!
A Story of Revenge
The duo previously clashed in a mini bike challenge, where Carson Brown emerged victorious. For this rematch, Lettenbichler brought his experience and determination to a larger bike, aiming to even the score. Despite being a vintage model, the 1996 KTM had received minor updates, including fresh tires, new graphics, and purple rims. Yet, its core remained untouched—front and rear fenders from 1996 still stood the test of time.
Speaking before the race, Lettenbichler remarked, “The bike feels familiar in size but is far from modern technology. I’ll give my best shot today.”
Classic Bike Meets Modern Challenges
Throughout the race, the KTM’s outdated suspension and weight presented challenges. Carson Brown acknowledged the difficulty, stating, “I need to stay controlled; otherwise, I’ll wrap this bike around a tree.”
The rules were simple: three timed laps, and the rider with the fastest lap would take the win. Lettenbichler, fresh off his TKO win, showed impressive control and speed. Brown, on the other hand, pushed hard, relying on momentum and calculated aggression.
The Outcome
Both riders tackled the technical course with skill, making every lap a spectacle. Lettenbichler’s second lap was particularly smooth and efficient, showcasing his adaptability. Carson Brown, however, used the bike’s momentum to maintain speed through the rocks and trees.
