We recently watched ADV BOYZ’s latest video comparing the Kove 800X Rally and KTM 890 Adventure R, and it was really interesting to see the numbers in action. They put both bikes on the scales and also measured how much effort it takes to lift them after a tip-over — two things that actually matter when you’re out on rough trails.
Wet Weight – The Numbers You Can Feel
According to the video:
-
KTM 890 Adventure R: 494 lbs (224 kg)
-
Kove 800X Rally: 419 lbs (190 kg)
That’s a 75 lbs difference — pretty noticeable if you’re riding technical trails or trying to maneuver in tight spots. Watching it, you can really see how the KTM’s low fuel tank design helps keep the bike balanced and planted, while the Kove feels lighter but slightly more “top-heavy.”
Pickup Weight – Real-World Lifting
They also measured the bikes’ tip-over pickup weight:
-
KTM 890 Adventure R: 207 lbs (94 kg)
-
Kove 800X Rally: 180 lbs (81 kg)
It’s easy to underestimate how much this matters until you’ve actually had to pick a bike up on a steep trail. The Kove’s lighter weight is definitely an advantage, but the KTM feels surprisingly manageable thanks to its low center of gravity. Watching the video, you really get a sense of how much weight placement can affect handling.
Our Thoughts
From watching the comparison, a few things stood out:
-
The Kove 800X Rally is lighter, which is great for solo rides or when you need to pick it up from the ground.
-
The KTM 890 Adventure R proves that a well-designed center of gravity can make a heavier bike feel more balanced than you’d expect.
-
Small differences in weight and fuel placement can have a bigger impact than you think when you’re actually riding.
All in all, it’s a reminder that numbers on paper don’t tell the whole story — seeing how these bikes handle in real-world scenarios is what really matters.
