Event Details
The John Penton GNCC, one of the longest-running events in the GNCC Racing Series, will take place at Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio, from September 27, 2024, to September 30, 2024. Named after the off-road motorcycle racing pioneer John Penton, who was instrumental in bringing KTM motorcycles to the United States, this event is a highlight for racers and fans alike.
The John Penton GNCC features a track with a mix of fast, flowing trails and some fresh, tight sections. Although the terrain is generally not too difficult in terms of hills or mud bogs, the race can become challenging as it progresses. The course includes the Sunday Creek motocross track, which offers a few simple jumps, a nice step-up, and plenty of wide-open corners for flat tracking and passing.
Weather Considerations
Weather can be unpredictable at this event. The track may be bone-dry and dusty or covered in sticky Ohio mud—or sometimes both. The slick Ohio clay provides little traction when wet and can stick to your gear and machine. Therefore, it’s crucial to prepare for varying conditions. Extra goggles and gloves are recommended in case of rain, as they will likely get thrashed.
